The Sphere’s next act: AAA gaming?
After hosting U2 and Phish, the Sphere in Las Vegas appears to be looking for ways to attract a younger crowd: Sphere Entertainment, the company running the iconic dome-shaped Las Vegas venue, has been hiring game developers to add interactive entertainment to the Sphere’s line-up.
In a recent job listing, the company revealed that it was working on massively multiplayer games for its huge dome screen: “16K visuals. 60fps performance. 164,000 speaker audio. 20,000 players per shard. A screen the size of three football fields. It’s AAA on a whole new scale.”
