Meta is getting ready to release even more smart glasses: Newly-published FCC filings hint at the imminent launch of a new line of AI glasses under the model numbers G4QM, G4QR, Q4QS and G4Q. The documents are heavily redacted, but there are two things that stood out to me:

These may not be ordinary RayBans. In the past, Meta’s eyewear partner EssilorLuxottica has filed its own FCC applications for jointly-made smart glasses. As the companies prepared to launch two new models this spring, EssilorLuxottica made the filings.

The only exception to this rule has been the launch of Meta’s RayBan Display glasses. Is Meta getting ready to release another display model – or is the filing a sign of a new hardware partner, or perhaps a line of glasses under Meta’s own brand?

There’s a mysterious new debugging adapter. Also intriguing: The filings for the new glasses were made alongside an application for a “debug tool” that appears to offer some way to directly connect the glasses to a computer’s USB port.
